From camping, to glamping, to log cabin life!

I don't know that I've ever furnished a home from scratch. Even my first college dorm room came with furniture from my parent's home. Starting from scratch is not for the faint of heart! From refrigerators to towels to measuring spoons, it's been a process.

After closing on the property on September 30, 2022, we took our first trip a week later to make sure the heat was turned on, make some extra keys, and just get a lay of the land (literally and figuratively.) We packed up two bag chairs, a bag table, two padded cots and two sleeping bags and glamping ensued! With no kitchen utensils, we planned each meal for takeout that could be warmed in the microwave. I woke up that first morning in awe of the 35-acre view that was ours.

We have since made two trips back. Once in late October when we had deliveries and repairs scheduled - Derek said it looked like an episode of of "Extreme Cabin Makeover!" That was also the trip where we had to make our first repair - cistern pump was disconnected. No showers meant we went from glamping back to camping! Oh well, #logcabinliving. We also were able to spend an entire week there over Thanksgiving where we started to really make the cabin feel like home and finally got "Mr. Starlink" mounted on the roof.

That long "purchase" list we started when we closed has a pretty big dent in it. I think we can now finally welcome guests besides Leah (who we put to work!)
